Director of Payroll

Summary

A large and fast-paced multi-state healthcare organization is seeking a hands‑on Director of Payroll to lead payroll operations based out of its Lakewood, NJ office. This leadership role includes oversight of a dozen-plus facilities, managing a payroll team, ensuring compliance, supporting benefit‑related processes, and driving accuracy and accountability in payroll execution.

• Oversee end‑to‑end payroll processing for a dozen-plus facilities
• Lead and support a payroll team handling daily data entry and processing
• Review and approve facility‑submitted payroll data; ensure timely, accurate processing
• Collaborate with HR on 401(k), health insurance, open enrollment, and employee issues
• Handle related compliance and risk areas, including legal matters as needed
• Ensure proper PBJ reporting
• Operate effectively in a demanding, high‑expectation environment with strong leadership support

• Proven experience managing payroll operations across multiple sites (healthcare preferred)
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor payroll team
• Comfortable with PBJ reporting
• Highly detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of working under pressure
• Must be based in or commutable to Lakewood, NJ
• Open to candidates currently at the Supervisor level ready to step into a Director role
• Flexible schedule possible; open to candidates working less than a full 8‑hour day, provided they remain available to handle any urgent issues that may arise
