ResponsibilitiesThe EHRM Construction Manager will participate in design management with the Project Manager (PM) and General Contractor; monitor ongoing construction activities and schedules for conformance with contract requirements; oversee civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, or architectural aspects of construction; support processing of easements, deeds, local code requirements, and restrictions; and coordinate various phases of construction at a VA Medical Facility.
Currently, the role involves oversight of a new Electronic Health Record Management (EHRM) IT infrastructure project for veteran services at the American Lake VA Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.
Requirements- Senior or Junior Construction Managers with at least 2–10 years specialized experience in their area of expertise. Senior CMs must have at least ten (10) years;
Junior CMs at least two (2) years. Education can be substituted with additional years of project management experience and certification as noted. - Experience managing large‑scale infrastructure, healthcare, or federal facility construction projects with individual project budgets of at least $14 million ($14MM) and demonstrated ability to manage schedule, quality, and contract compliance.
- Physical requirements:
ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction; exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock; occasional lifting of 10–25 lbs. - Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture preferred.
- Effective communication skills; ability to utilize a variety of software programs to monitor, update, and produce work products.
