Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Customer Service Specialist 2 to join our team at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) in Lakewood, WA. This in-person role requires serving customers independently, researching & resolving complaints via telephone, in person, or electronically, while maintaining confidentiality. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities
  • Interact positively and respectfully with external and internal customers via telephone, electronically, or face-to-face to address their needs.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries, assess the circumstances, and utilize agency programs (Barcode, JP Morgan, E-Jas, Scheduler, Blue Slip, ACES Online, SharePoint, etc.) to research and deliver accurate information.
  • Issue EBT cards, bus passes, gift cards, and vouchers to authorized customers and explain how to use them.
  • Maintain accurate logs for negotiables.
  • Interpret agency policy and procedures and resolve issues by applying knowledge of laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and general information services for all customers.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree AND two years of experience providing assistance to customers regarding inquiries, complaints, or problems OR Bachelor’s degree; OR equivalent experience.
  • Quick learner, team player, capable of self‑start projects, able to stay focused on priorities and work with all walks of life.
