Lakewood Racquet & Sports Club is a member‑owned club dedicated to providing an exceptional experience in tennis, pickleball, fitness, and community events. We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and strategic General Manager to lead our team, oversee daily operations, and work closely with our Board of Directors to ensure the club’s continued growth and success.
The RoleThe General Manager (GM) is the heart of our club, responsible for leading operations with energy, enthusiasm, and a member‑first mindset. The GM creates a welcoming, vibrant culture for both members and staff while ensuring financial health and operational excellence. This role requires an outgoing, positive leader who thrives on solving challenges, building relationships, and continuously improving the club experience.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Culture
- Serve as the face of the club, engaging members daily with energy and enthusiasm.
- Hire, train, Inspire and lead a motivated, service‑oriented team with positivity and professionalism.
- Foster a fun, inclusive, and member‑focused environment where staff feel supported and valued.
- Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Anticipate and resolve issues proactively to ensure seamless operations.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve facilities, programs, and services.
- Implement creative solutions to enhance member satisfaction and staff efficiency.
- Member Services & Engagement
- Deliver a member experience that encourages participation, loyalty, and referrals.
- Build strong relationships with members by being approachable, responsive, and present.
- Direct and collaborate with the Head Tennis Professional to foster dynamic tennis programming, tournaments, lessons, and community events.
- Financial & Business Operations
- Manage budgets responsibly, balancing growth with fiscal discipline.
- Identify new revenue opportunities while maintaining exceptional service standards.
- Support membership growth through marketing, community outreach, and retention strategies.
- Run operational reports and attend meetings as required, satisfy all reporting requirements, internal and external.
- Facilities & Program Oversight
- Ensure courts, clubhouse, pool and amenities are maintained at the highest standard and coordinate with and evaluate vendors and contractors as needed.
- Optimize scheduling for both member convenience and revenue growth.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality, sports management, or related field – OR 5+ years of business management experience in lieu of a degree. - Experience:
5+ years of management in a club, resort, hospitality, or sports facility setting. - Background in financial and business management (A/R, A/P, P&L, payroll, QBO reporting).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in Quick Books Online.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of tennis programming and club operations.
- Tech‑savvy with experience in club management and scheduling software (Court Reserve a plus).
- Experience working with nonprofits and reporting directly to a Board of Directors or Ownership.
- Outgoing, energetic, and positive leadership style with a background in hiring and building strong teams.

Must be able to reliably commute to Lakewood, WA or plan to relocate prior to start date.
Primarily day shifts (evening or weekend availability needed for Social Nights and Events to engage with membership).
70k – 80k DOE
