About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled Facilities Technician II to join our Facilities Maintenance Department in Lakewood. In this vital role, you will:

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance:
    Conduct routine and proactive maintenance on a range of systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, bay doors, vehicle lifts, electrical systems, fire protection systems, bus shelters, fueling stations, bus vehicle wash systems, and machinery supporting fleet maintenance.
  • Execute Repairs:
    Safely and effectively carry out repairs on buildings, shelters, and equipment. Includes carpentry work.
  • Ensure Quality:
    Adhere to high standards of work quality, ensuring tasks meet or exceed inspection requirements and are fully compliant with regulations.
  • Apply Technical Knowledge:
    Use hands‑on experience with electrical systems, HVAC, PLCs, and maintenance routines to address a wide range of needs.
Key Experience and Skills
  • Extensive industrial/commercial maintenance experience.
  • Expertise in critical systems: electrical systems, HVAC, and PLCs.
  • Versatility in maintenance tasks (mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, carpentry).
  • Independent judgment and decision making.
  • Commitment to high‑quality standards and compliance.
Important Note

This position may require working any shift, so flexibility is essential.

Shift Differential

This job is eligible for shift differential pay per the ATU Collective Bargaining Agreement after probation and when you have bid to a shift.

PAID LEAVE

Full‑time employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, 12 vacation days per year, and the ability to earn up to 2 wellness days. Part‑time employees receive pro‑rated leave.

  • Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial equipment and buildings.
  • Inspects, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs shop equipment such as hydraulic systems, hoists, fueling systems, pumps, air compressors, sand blasters, oil and water separators, gates, grinders, presses, vises, drill presses, battery chargers, hose reels, vehicle lifts, vehicle cleaning system, steam cleaners, parts cleaners, fire doors, roll doors, and telescoping shop doors.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and repairs HVAC systems.
  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring, lights, circuit breakers, switches, and controls; runs conduit, pulls and hooks up wire per national electrical code.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs programmable logic controls, sensors, modules, and actuators.
  • Cuts, threads, and joins pipe and performs plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Welds and fabricates steel and aluminum components using oxy/acetylene, wire feed, or MIG/TIG equipment.
  • Performs carpentry: installs floor coverings, repairs and replaces windows and doors, including hardware.
