Lamar Community College (LCC) is a vibrant, learner-centered, Hispanic-Serving Institution dedicated to enriching lives through education and opportunity. We are seeking a visionary and student-focused Dean of Academic Services to provide strategic leadership in advancing instructional excellence and academic quality across the college.
POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Student Services, the Dean plays a pivotal role in ensuring the rigor, relevance, and integrity of all instructional programs. This position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and college leadership to develop and strengthen programs that meet student, workforce, and community needs. The Dean provides oversight of faculty supervision and evaluation, curriculum development, instructional assessment, and scheduling, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
The Dean of Academic Services provides direct supervision for faculty and staff in Arts & Sciences and Career & Technical Education, as well as adjunct instructors, the Registrar, Cultivate@LCC, Library, Learning Support Services, and the ACE Center. The position also supports the expansion of Concurrent Enrollment programs and plays an integral role in maintaining compliance with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation standards.
In addition, the Dean contributes to grant development, implementation, and evaluation of academic initiatives that strengthen the college’s mission and strategic goals.
As an employee of Lamar Community College and the Colorado Community College System, this position is required to uphold and enforce the policies of LCC and CCCS, and all local, state and federal laws. This position will comply with all student privacy laws (FERPA); and is a mandatory reporter of any suspected illegal activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide visionary leadership that advances the College’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities, fostering an inclusive, student-centered academic environment.
- Champion student success by promoting responsive teaching, closing equity gaps, and expanding access for underserved learners, including adult, first-generation, veteran, students with disabilities, and low-income students.
- Recruit, lead, supervise, and support faculty, instructional staff, and academic personnel, including hiring, evaluation, mentoring, and professional development.
- Ensure faculty meet all required qualifications and CTE credentialing standards.
- Oversee curriculum development, program review, and assessment of student learning to ensure academic quality, continuous improvement, economic mobility outcome, and compliance with accreditation standards.
- Serve as the primary contact for student academic concerns, addressing issues with fairness, integrity, empathy, and collaboration.
- Manage academic operations, including scheduling, staffing, faculty contracts, and instructional budgets, ensuring alignment with all required policies.
- Support instructional innovation, faculty professional growth, and integration of effective and inclusive pedagogy.
- Lead and administer academic components of grants, budgets, and accreditation processes, including system and industry-based program accreditation, and non-degree industry credentials.
- Guide the timely development and delivery of all LCC course schedules and curricula, ensuring appropriate class sizes, faculty teaching loads, instructional resources, and technology are maintained.
- Provide strong leadership and active participation in Colorado Online and the Rural Consortium to expand access, enhance instructional quality, and align offerings with statewide and regional needs.
