General Description:
The RN is responsible for providing direct patient care within the scope of their practice. The position is one of providing direct patient care to women in labor, through delivery, postpartum, and to provide direct care to the newborn. Assuring all aspects of maternal childcare.
Responsibility:
- Performing assessments, monitoring process of labor, preparing for C-sections, inductions, and proper documentation of nursing care. Administer care during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum including infant care and providing patient education.
- Prepares delivery room, provides emotional support, and coordinates transfers. Administer IV medications, adhere to principles of infection control and general policies of OB department.
- Knowledge and/or interest in obstetrics and equipment.
Accountability:
The RN reports directly to the New Beginnings Birth Center Manager.
Special Demands:
Physical:
Long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting. Exposure to blood and body fluids, unpleasant sights, smells and infectious diseases possible.
Qualifications:
- Education:
RN graduate with current Colorado licensure. - Must have current CPR certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Certification
- ACLS within one year of employment.
Experience:
- 4 years experience in Obstetrics care preferred.
Skills:
- Knowledge of or interest in learning labor, delivery, postpartum and nursing care essentials.
- Principles of sterile technique and infection control.
- Skilled in technical aspects of mother/infant care.
- Able to perform effectively in highly stressful situations.
- Able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people and have good communication skills.
Working Environment:
Full Time working 36 hours per week, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. May rotate shifts and areas as staffing and census requires
On call required.
