Biomass Technician

The opportunity
Fancy a hands-on role where youll play an important part in keeping a busy manufacturing site running? Were looking for a Biomass Technician to help look after the plant that produces heat and steam for the site.
This is a varied job that mixes plant checks, routine maintenance and fault finding. One minute you could be checking the controls, the next carrying out a walk-round or helping to get equipment back up and running. Its a good opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, solving problems and being part of a close-knit team.
What youll be doing
Keep the biomass boiler and supporting equipment running safely and smoothly.
Monitor the plant controls and carry out regular walk-rounds and equipment checks.
Keep an eye on temperatures, pressures, fuel levels and alarms, and act quickly if something doesnt look right.
Look after the fuel-feed and ash-handling equipment and keep the plant area clean and safe.
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on pumps, motors, fans, valves and conveyors.
Help find the cause of faults and work with the engineering team to get problems fixed.
Complete basic boiler-water checks and keep clear, accurate records.
Support planned shutdowns, contractor visits and ideas that make the plant safer, more reliable and more efficient.
What were looking for
Hands-on experience working with industrial machinery, plant, utilities or process equipment.
A practical mechanical background and the confidence to investigate straightforward faults.
Comfortable checking readings, responding to alarms and deciding what needs attention first.
A sensible, safety-first approach to your work.
Someone reliable and easy to work with who can communicate clearly and keep accurate records.
It would be great if you also have:
experience with biomass boilers, steam systems or similar plant, or a relevant mechanical, electrical or process qualification. However, were also interested in people with strong transferable experience from other industrial environments.
