The practice currently has a part-time vacancy for an experienced medical receptionist, working 22 hours over 3 days. You will need to be flexible, reception shifts are between 7.30am and 6.30pm. You may also be required to provide cover for sickness and holidays at short notice.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for an intelligent, self-motivated person with a sunny disposition to join our busy well-organised team. Previous primary care experience is preferred. The successful applicant must be computer literate and possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Attention to detail and adhering to strict confidentiality policies are essential at all times. A knowledge of EMIS Web will be a great advantage.
The successful applicant will be based in the reception team dealing with patients and their queries, answering the telephone, inputting data, and other general reception duties. Some admin duties may also be required. The position can be very demanding and fast paced at times so an ability to adapt and learn new skills quickly and easily and to prioritise workload are essential.
Common sense and a good sense of humour are essential. You will be required to attend training courses and practice meetings as needed.
Job responsibilitiesThe reception team receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective manner.
Being the first point of contact the successful candidate will project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Other reception related administration duties vary on a daily basis and will include, but not limited to, district nurse referrals, creating cyber forms for investigations, and processing various requests from clinical staff.
It will be expected that the post holder will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of any child or adult he/she is responsible for or comes into contact with.
Experience- Experience of working in a GP practice or primary care setting.
- Experience of dealing with the public both face to face and on the telephone.
- Excellent keyboard and computer skills.
- Experience of using a clinical computerised database system.
- Experience of Microsoft office software.
