Lancaster University is seeking an administrator to join the Strategic Planning and Governance Division as a Divisional Officer
.

Working at the centre of the University's strategic, governance and planning activities, you will provide high-level professional support to the Director and the wider Divisional Senior Leadership Team. The role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the effective running of the University and support key governance processes, including committees and senior management advisory groups.

About

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

You Will
  • Provide proactive executive support including diary management, meeting coordination, inbox oversight and forward planning.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the smooth operation of the Division, helping to coordinate activities and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage financial administration processes including purchase orders, invoices, expenses and budget monitoring.
  • Support the University's governance arrangements through committee administration, preparation of agenda packs and coordination of governance-related activities.
  • Organise recruitment and induction processes for Council members and support wider governance initiatives.
  • Provide high-quality secretariat support to senior management advisory groups, including agenda preparation, minute taking and action tracking.
  • Coordinate administrative processes relating to student complaints and casework reviews.
  • Assist with divisional projects and continuous improvement activities.
About You

We are looking for an individual who is highly organised, professional and confident working with senior stakeholders.

You Will Be Able To Demonstrate
  • Experience of providing administrative support in a complex professional environment.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience producing high-quality documents and reports.
  • Experience of arranging and servicing meetings, including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
  • Financial administration experience, including budget monitoring and processing payments.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications and digital systems.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and the ability to exercise sound judgement when handling sensitive information.
  • A proactive approach, using initiative to solve problems and improve processes.
