Our client has an opportunity for a Construction Procurement Support to join them on a 12-month contract with possible extension/move to permanent. You will be providing support to the UK Construction procurement strategy.

LocationStevenage or Bolton, 2 days onsite or more if required.
HoursMonday to Friday, 37 hours per week
ClearanceBPSS required before starting, full SC to follow
Hourly RateUp to 40 per hour via Umbrella, inside IR35
What you’ll be doing- Running & supporting Competitive Tender Events via the e-procurement Tool
- Planning Tender Programmes and agreeing meeting dates with stakeholders
- Supplier Sourcing for the UK Construction Category
- Identify savings opportunities, capture & record Savings
- Provide support to raise Purchase Orders during busy period
- Support the Indirect UK Construction Team in preparing for Procurement Gate Reviews
- Support Indirect Procurement Team with invoice queries
- Lead low value/low complexity negotiations with suppliers to optimise cost, delivery and quality of products
- Understand and be able to negotiate contract clauses such as pricing, delivery, liquidated damages, termination, insurance etc by using templates provided
- Manage suppliers and where necessary build up longer term supplier management expectations
- Build strong relationships with suppliers in order to meet Internal Customer requirements effectively.
- Build strong relationships with FM, Security & SHE Team in order to support their requirements and needs
- Actively support functional excellence programmes, identifying areas for improvement where new processes may be required
- CIPS or RICS would be desirable
- Candidates with experience in construction procurement, with familiarity of small works frameworks, and/or of using industry forms for contract such as JCT or NEC.
- Experience of working for either Client, Prime Contractor, or sub-contractors.
- Experience of running small works construction requests for proposals and assessing supplier submissions including pricing documents.
- Understand and be able to negotiate contract clauses such as pricing, delivery, liquidated damages, termination, insurance etc by using templates provided.
- We’re looking for people who are calm under changing requirements with tight deadlines, and capable of working across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Significant practical experience, vocational or academic qualifications
- Strong team and communication skills
- Good written, verbal and presentation skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Proactive approach / self-starter and able to work under pressure
- Good organisational, planning and admin skills
- Pragmatic approach to problems & issues
- Commercial experience of contract terms and conditions is required
- Knowledge of cost make-up and pricing is desirable but not essential
- Experience of procurement in the Construction Industry and / or Facilities Management required
