Main duties of the job
- Provide an Outpatient Service, along with other members of the department, in the main outpatients based in Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
- Carry out benign head and neck diagnostic surgical procedures, as well as routine ENT activity.
- Support the running of the weekly Neck Lump Clinic along with radiologist and fast‑track patient sessions.
- Supervise, undertake and manage complications relating to routine ENT surgical and head and neck procedures; attend Head and Neck MDT and Thyroid MDT.
- Contribute to clinical and educational activities within the directorate as determined by the assigned educational lead, and provide a high‑quality service to the local population including an emergency on‑call commitment.
- Current expected on‑call rota is 1:5, including weekends, with prospective cover currently under review.
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, providing services across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS), supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.

The Trust comprises Blackpool Victoria Hospital, a large busy acute hospital, and a smaller community/rehabilitation hospital – Clifton Hospital. Outpatient services are also offered in Blackpool, Fleetwood and Lytham Hospital.
The organisation delivers specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, community health services to over 445 000 residents, and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Additional services include specialised cardio‑thoracic surgery, sleep medicine and urgent/emergency care for an estimated 18 million people who visit the seaside resort annually.
Job description- Full GMC Registration or working towards CESR or European Community Rights (must be confirmed by GMC by the date of AAC).
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or working towards it. The applicant must have an appropriate higher surgical qualification (FRCS or equivalent).
- Experience with in the NHS and broad clinical ENT experience, with a subspecialty interest in Head & Neck.
- Full GMC Registration.
- An appropriate higher surgical qualification (FRCS or equivalent).
- Working towards CESR or European Community Rights (must be confirmed by GMC by the date of AAC).
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Relevant higher degree, diploma, or other postgraduate qualification.
- NHS experience.
- Subspecialty interest in Head and Neck.
- Broad clinical ENT experience.
- An understanding of NHS management practices and their application.
- A willingness to attend and actively participate in department meetings.
- Evidence of participation in audit.
- Evidence of commitment to support the teaching of medical and non‑medical staff.
- Evidence of participation in research‑based publications.
- Postgraduate education qualifications.
