Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Tutor - Progress

The Role

Blackpool and the Fylde College (B&FC) are actively seeking a Senior Tutor - Progress, based at our Gateway Campus. As a Senior Tutor for Progress, you will play a pivotal pastoral leadership role within Gateway, Blackpool and the Fylde College’s discrete campus designed to support young people who need additional time and tailored provision to transition successfully into further education and employment.

You will lead the personal development curriculum, coordinate action planning for learners identified as at risk, and work closely with parents/carers, external agencies, and support services to secure positive outcomes. You will also ensure that students make strong academic progress and are fully supported to move confidently toward their next steps in education, training, or employment.

The ideal candidate will bring strong experience working with SEND learners, those with EHCPs, and young people transitioning from alternative provision or elective home education. With Gateway’s focus on personal development, English, maths, and career-focused technical tasters, you will guide students through their next steps and progression pathways.

This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of the current postholder, offering an exciting opportunity to build on an established and impactful provision. The post holder is required for the 26/27 academic year but, if available, we'd like to plan for an earlier start to support a good transition.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support progress tutors to ensure the effective delivery of progress meetings and student support strategies.
  • Drive improvements in student attendance, retention, achievement, and behaviour, aligned with regulatory and institutional frameworks.
  • Promote and evaluate student voice activities, ensuring their impact informs continuous improvement and positive outcomes.
  • Champion the Partners for Success framework, ensuring it enhances student experience and progress.
Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to further your leadership experience while playing a key role in shaping the student journey and driving outstanding outcomes. You’ll be part of a passionate, student-focused team committed to excellence and continuous improvement.

How to Apply

If you’re interested in this role, please apply as soon as possible. This vacancy may close early if enough applications are received.
