Learning Support Assistant

Location:

Crookhey Hall School, Cockerham, Lancaster, LA2 0HA

Hours:

37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30 am – 4.00 pm

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract:

Permanent | Term Time Only

About the Role

At Crookhey Hall School, we believe every child deserves the chance to thrive — to feel valued, understood, and capable of success. We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work alongside teachers in delivering high‑quality education to pupils with a range of learning and behavioural needs. LSAs are vital in supporting classroom learning, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils access a broad and balanced curriculum.

What

You’ll Do
  • Support pupils in small groups and 1:1 to help them engage and succeed in lessons
  • Assist teachers across a range of subjects and classroom activities
  • Prepare engaging resources and displays to enhance learning
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and self‑esteem
  • Supervise and support pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and transitions
  • Maintain a purposeful, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment
  • Attend training and staff meetings to share ideas and develop your skills
What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C / 4 or above)
  • Basic IT skills and confidence with digital tools
  • High expectations of pupil behaviour and achievement
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Experience in education, care, or support work
  • Qualifications in Childcare, Education, or Social Care
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism or SEMH
