SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support - EYFS)

Start Date:

02/03/2026

Hours:

08:00-16:00 or 08:30-16:30
Pay: £98-£106 per day (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a compassionate, nurturing and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within an EYFS setting.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in a child's early educational journey by providing consistent, personalised support in both learning and personal development.

The Role

You will be working closely with a pupil who:

Has a diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)

Follows an EYFS-level curriculum

Requires personal care support

Has slight mobility needs requiring gentle assistance and supervision

Your role will involve:

Delivering tailored 1:1 support aligned with EYFS learning outcomes

Supporting communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation

Assisting with personal care in a dignified and respectful manner

Encouraging independence and confidence

Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents

Recording progress and contributing to support strategies

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

Naturally nurturing, patient and empathetic

Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

Experienced in supporting children with additional needs, particularly ASD

Comfortable providing personal care support

Confident adapting learning to meet individual needs

Passionate about inclusive education

Desirable Background:

Care work

Support work

Nursery or early years experience

Previous SEND experience (particularly Autism)

Requirements

Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals

Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities

Ability to build positive, trusting relationships

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
