Job Description Salary £28,142 - £32,061 pro-rata | Fixed term, Part time | Garstang Library, Lancashire
Position Library Officer at Garstang Library – Part Time (20.5 hpw). Temporary Job Share until 30 August 2026. Pro-Rata salary £28,142 - £32,061.
Responsibilities- Lead a team of staff and volunteers to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the library.
- Plan and deliver a wide range of events (e.g. author events, class visits).
- Support customers with digital services (e.g. eBooks, passport applications).
- Build partnerships with local organisations.
- Monitor performance and ensure service excellence.
- Work at a library base with the expectation to work at other libraries as required.
- Adhere to the set two-week rota; hours are fixed and cannot be changed.
- A confident and supportive leader.
- Friendly, approachable, and passionate about reading.
- Digitally confident and able to help others navigate online resources.
- A great communicator with strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with a diverse range of people, including volunteers and community partners.
- Part 1:
Information Session – Friday 20 March at Garstang Library, 2:00 pm. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend (about 1 hour) including a meeting with a manager and a library tour explaining duties. - Part 2:
Interview – Friday 27 March at Garstang Library. All applicants attending the information session will be invited for interview.
