Position: Children Missing Education Officer| Fixed Term 13/01/2027| Full-Time

Job Details

Salary: £32,061 - £36,363 per annum.
Contract: Fixed Term, ending 13 January 2027.
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week.

International sponsorship: This role is not open to international sponsorship.

Overview

The Access to Education service works with colleagues, schools, children and families across Lancashire to support children to engage with education and improve attendance at school.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Children Missing Education team to identify children missing education – including tracking children out of the authority who have moved away from Lancashire or gone missing with their families and working with families in Lancashire to engage their children into education.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and track children missing education across Lancashire.
  • Work with families to engage their children in education.
  • Support and challenge families from diverse backgrounds to ensure their children access education.
  • Advocate on behalf of children and influence professionals across a range of agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Deliver a quality service that safeguards the education welfare of children in Lancashire.
  • Travel to various locations across Lancashire; a valid driving licence and own vehicle are required.
  • Collaborate with a well‑established, supportive team and maintain relationships through regular attendance at the office base in Chorley.
Qualifications

Well‑organised and proactive team player with a problem‑solving mindset.

Ability to work with a caseload of families from a diverse array of backgrounds and circumstances, supporting and challenging them as necessary to ensure their children access education.

Excellent advocacy skills and ability to influence professionals across a range of agencies.

Valid driving licence and ownership of a suitable vehicle.
