About the roleThe Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) is seeking to appoint a proactive, friendly Technician to support practical teaching. You will be part of a dedicated team ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our teaching laboratories. The role is based in the teaching laboratories in LEC but may involve some fieldwork support. There are two equivalent roles advertised.
You Will- Check and prepare equipment, labware and chemical solutions required in practical sessions.
- Lead by example through consistently adhering to excellent laboratory practices.
- Work collegiately and proactively under instruction to facilitate the smooth running of the laboratories.
- Assist with the preparation of field equipment and sample collection.
- Contribute to other teaching, outreach and student recruitment activities.
- Qualifications or experience equivalent to level 3 in a scientific discipline or practical experience in a science laboratory.
- Experience of working successfully in a team to support others, coordinate effort and complete tasks effectively.
- The ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
- The ability to prioritise and organise your work and resources to planned timescales.

This post is offered on a full-time (36.5 hours per week) in term-time only (3 × 10 weeks) plus four weeks scheduled around the term dates, on an indefinite basis. Salary is calculated for the full year.
