Devonshire Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 4 (TA4) who is passionate about making a meaningful difference to children’s lives.

This is a temporary position from 01/09/2026 to 31/08/2027, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus one week (5 inset days).

The role of TA4 at Devonshire Primary Academy is both varied and rewarding, involving whole‐school cover from Preschool through to Year
6. This provides a unique opportunity to build strong relationships across all age groups and to support children at every stage of their educational journey. Due to the dynamic nature of school life, the role requires a high degree of flexibility and responsiveness, as priorities can change quickly. The successful candidate will embrace this with enthusiasm, adapting confidently to ensure that learning remains purposeful, consistent and centred on the needs of every child.

Candidates should meet or are working towards:
  • Professional standards for Higher Level Teaching Assistants; or have or be working towards a relevant Foundation Degree
  • Strong understanding of how children learn and develop holistically, recognising the importance of nurturing pupils socially, emotionally and academically
  • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to placing the child at the centre of all practice, ensuring every pupil feels valued, understood and valued
  • Can plan adaptively and deliver engaging, purposeful learning experiences that remove barriers and enable all children to succeed and flourish
  • Have consistently high expectations for all pupils, particularly in relation to behaviour, attitudes to learning and academic achievement
  • Are skilled in building positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience and independence in children
  • Can motivate and inspire pupils to develop a love of learning and a belief in their own potential
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills, underpinned by a calm, consistent and restorative approach
  • Are reflective practitioners who are committed to continually improving outcomes for children
  • Work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive school culture
  • Are flexible, resilient and enthusiastic, embracing opportunities to contribute to the wider life of the school and its ongoing improvement
