Responsibilities

The governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic welfare assistant to ensure our pupils have a positive experience in a safe environment during the lunch break at our friendly and welcoming school.

The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of supervision and lunchtime set up, clearing away and sweeping the floor, promoting good table manners, ensuring the safety of the pupils, promoting good behaviour both indoors and outdoors and supporting children to uphold our school values over the lunchtime period.

Hours:

6.25 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 1 hour 15 minutes per day; term time only).

The successful applicant will be expected to support the caring and friendly ethos of the school and will be required to adhere to the policies outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025.

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • First Aid
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Safeguarding Level 1

Essential Experience

  • Ability to relate well to children
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time keeping/organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Understand the concept of confidentiality

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working with children in a similar supervisory role (voluntary or paid work)
  • Experience of food hygiene
