We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and dynamic team within a specialist SEN/SEMH school in Chorley
. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
, helping them achieve both academically and personally.
- Support the delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons across the curriculum
- Lead small group interventions and, where appropriate, whole‑class teaching
- Work closely with the class teacher to plan, prepare and assess learning activities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH, additional needs, and challenging behaviours
- Foster a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Support behaviour management strategies and individual support plans
- Liaise with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals where required
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Has experience working within SEN and/or SEMH settings
- Has strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach
- Is confident leading learning activities independently
- Is passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and promoting wellbeing
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
