Position: Additional Needs Support Within Schools

- Chorley, Lancashire
-Full-time | Term-time only

We are working in partnership with a small, specialist SEMH setting in Chorley that provides education for pupils aged 6–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional SEND requirements.

The school offers a therapeutic and nurturing learning environment

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally, helping them to thrive in a structured and supportive setting.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Support classroom learning across a range of subjects
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
  • Promote students’
    emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver individual support plans
  • Contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH and additional needs
  • Calm, patient, and able to de‑escalate challenging situations
  • Experienced in education, care, or youth work (
    preferred but not essential
    )
  • A strong communicator with a positive and proactive approach
  • Committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
