We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN/SEMH school supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs. This rewarding role involves working closely with students who may have Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, learning difficulties, communication needs, and challenging behaviours.

You will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage in learning, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Support students with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Build positive relationships to promote engagement and wellbeing.
  • Encourage independence, social skills, and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents/carers.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience working within an SEN school, SEMH provision, alternative provision, or mainstream school supporting additional needs.
  • Relevant health and social care experience, including:
  • Support Worker
  • Healthcare Assistant
  • Residential Care Worker
  • Mental Health Support Worker
  • Youth Worker
  • Children’s Residential Support Worker
  • Behaviour Mentor
  • Care Assistant supporting individuals with additional needs
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
