We are recruiting passionate and driven Learning Mentors to work across a variety of SEN and SEMH schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale, starting in September 2026.

We have a range of long-term placements as well as day-to-day supply opportunities, offering flexibility to suit your availability and career goals.

As a Learning Mentor, you will support students with additional needs by helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and develop positive behaviours. You will play a key role in both their educational progress and personal development.

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN/SEMH needs
• Support students' academic engagement and emotional development
• Act as a positive role model, building strong, trusting relationships
• Help pupils develop social skills, resilience, and self-regulation strategies
• Support behaviour management in line with school policies
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
• Identify and address barriers to learning and engagement
• Monitor and track student progress, reporting back to staff

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs
• Are empathetic, patient, and resilient
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Are confident supporting students with challenging behaviour
• Have a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
• Can work independently and as part of a team

• Previous experience in schools, alternative provisions, care, or youth work
• Understanding of SEMH and trauma-informed approaches
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
• Training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar (desirable)
• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA or Youth Work)

• A variety of roles including long-term placements and flexible day-to-day work
