Paid in line with the Main Teacher Pay Scale from day one, dependent on experience. Full-time, term‑time only.

We are recruiting for a mainstream primary school in Rochdale seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teacher to lead a specialist class for pupils with autism. The role includes planning, delivery, and assessment of learning for a small class of pupils all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and personalised speech and language targets. You will work alongside Teaching Assistants and external professionals to support pupils in developing academically, socially, and communicatively.

• Plan and deliver a personalised curriculum tailored to pupils with autism
• Lead a small class within a specialist provision based in a mainstream school
• Support pupils working towards individual EHCP and speech and language targets
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of communication needs, including non‑verbal learners
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, external professionals and families
• Monitor and assess progress, maintaining accurate records and reports
• Create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment
• Promote communication, independence and emotional wellbeing

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have experience teaching pupils with autism
• Be confident supporting non‑verbal pupils and those with complex communication needs
• Have a strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning programmes
• Be able to plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that meet individual needs
• Demonstrate excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
• Be committed to inclusive education and achieving positive outcomes for all pupils
• Experience working within specialist provisions, autism units or SEN schools is highly advantageous
