Building on Lancaster’s reputation as one of the UK’s largest cyber and data research communities, the School of Computing & Communications (SCC) wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow to assist with the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of lab‑based modules on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. This full‑time, one‑year fixed term role offers the opportunity to help deliver a truly world‑class education experience in computer science and cyber‑security.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to curriculum development where appropriate.
- Deliver lab‑based teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Mark and assess coursework and support students with exam preparation and revision techniques.
- Participate in teaching reviews and quality assurance processes.
- Strong computer science background with excellence in lab‑based teaching at university level.
- Experience teaching a range of cyber‑security related courses.
- Strong programming, systems, computational problem‑solving and software design skills.
- Passion for creating an outstanding lab‑based learning environment.
- Desirable specialist knowledge in cyber‑security, computer networking, operating systems and systems programming.
Lancaster is the only university in the North West that has attained National Cyber Security Centre recognition as an Academic Centre of Excellence in both Cyber Security Research and Education, and it delivers an NCSC Certified Master’s Degree. The School maintains a good staff‑student ratio with around 50+ academic staff, 40 postdoctoral research staff, 120 PhD students and approximately 1,000 combined undergraduate and taught Masters students.
