Governors at Poulton St Chad’s C of E Primary are looking to appoint a temporary SEND Teaching Assistant who has the passion and enthusiasm to help children with SEND on a 1:1 basis. The successful candidate will be expected to implement and adapt suggested strategies for individual pupils with an EHCP, to enable them to have greater access to the curriculum.

It is expected that the successful candidate will initially work within EYFS and will support a child/children on a 1:1 basis, which includes breaktime and lunchtime duties.

This position is part time, term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.

Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE English (Grade C+) or equivalent.
  • GCSE Maths (Grade C+) or equivalent.
  • NVQ level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
  • Enhanced DBS clearance
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ level 3 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working within the primary age range
  • Have a proven track record of delivering high quality group support in a classroom
  • Be child centred and be prepared to put the needs of children of St Chad’s first at all times
  • Be willing to nurture and support vulnerable children, who may be non-verbal and may have intimate care and/or behavioural needs
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working in different school settings
  • Experience working with children with a range of behaviours and be confident in successfully managing children’s behaviour
  • Understanding of a range of SEND including GDD, ASD and speech and language needs
