We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Blackburn for an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a strong sporting background to join their dedicated team as soon as possible. This is a temporary position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school supports pupils aged 8 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and is committed to providing a nurturing, supportive environment where every young person can thrive and achieve their potential. [], []

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Use sport, physical activity and teamwork to engage and motivate pupils.
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored learning and behaviour support.
  • Promote positive wellbeing and encourage active participation throughout the school day.
  • Act as a positive role model for young people who may have faced barriers to learning.
The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Have a background in sport, coaching, fitness, PE or youth work.
  • Are confident managing behaviour in a calm and positive manner.
  • Have experience working with children or young people, either in education, sports coaching, mentoring or community settings.
  • Are resilient, patient and committed to helping pupils succeed.
  • Can build strong relationships and inspire young people to achieve their goals.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
