Senior Bid Writer

My client is a leading civil engineering main contractor working across highways, structures, water and energy sector civils projects, ranging in value from £1m to £15m. They are increasing their work‑winning team with a Senior Bid Writer to secure high‑value civils frameworks.

Key Responsibilities (Process Leadership)
  • Act as Bid Lead for allocated tenders, managing the process from opportunity approval to submission.
  • Producing a bid programme and submission plan.
  • Organising bid kick‑off meetings.
  • Allocating responsibilities for bid inputs.
  • Coordinating contributions from estimators, planners and operational staff.
  • Tracking progress against deadlines.
  • Managing tender clarifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements.
  • Assembling and submitting final tender documentation.
  • Ensuring bids progress efficiently through the internal Lean Tender Process.
Bid Writing & Content Development
  • Write clear, persuasive responses to PQQs, tenders and framework submissions.
  • Translate technical information into structured, client‑focused responses.
  • Develop methodology responses, project approaches and value proposals.
  • Review and improve contributions from technical team members.
  • Edit and proofread submissions to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Ensure responses align with identified win themes.
  • Liaise with operational teams, estimators, planners and commercial staff to gather technical inputs.
  • Extract knowledge from subject matter experts and convert it into scoring‑focused responses.
  • Gather project data and evidence to support tender responses.
  • Research client priorities and project context where required.
Key Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong bid writing experience.
  • Experience coordinating tender submissions.
  • Construction or civil engineering sector experience desirable.
  • Ability to analyse tender questions and scoring criteria.
  • Skilled at extracting technical knowledge from subject matter experts.
