Maintenance Engineer

gap technical are proud to be representing a market‑leading manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support operations at their site in Blackburn.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the manufacturing process by responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned maintenance, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities
  • Fault‑find efficiently using machine history, documentation, and diagnostics
  • Take ownership of a nominated production area
  • Identify, correct, and modify recurring machine faults
  • Work closely with production teams to maintain strong working relationships
  • Train operational staff in minor maintenance tasks and assist with major repairs
  • Ensure all machinery is maintained to a high engineering standard
  • Actively contribute to reducing downtime and improving engineering processes
About You
  • Time‑served engineering apprenticeship (preferred)
  • Electrical bias with strong hands‑on experience
  • Proven experience with:
  • 3‑Phase Electrical Systems
  • Motors, Drives, Safety Relays & PLC'S
  • Packaging machinery
  • Background in FMCG / Packaging / Plastics manufacturing is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to plan and organise workload effectively
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns (days, nights, weekends)
