Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Lead Aerodynamicist to join their team in Warton on a 12-month contract basis. This position involves working full time on-site with a standard 37-hour working week. The role falls inside IR35 and requires BPSS & Full SC - ITAR clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading aerodynamic analysis and design activities for defence and security projects
Conducting wind tunnel testing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and aerodynamic performance assessments
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate aerodynamic solutions into broader project objectives
Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
Ensuring all aerodynamic work aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Participating in design reviews and providing expert insights on aerodynamic implications
Contributing to the continuous improvement of aerodynamic methodologies and tools

Job Requirements:

Extensive experience in aerodynamics within the Defence & Security sector
Strong understanding and application of fluid dynamics principles and CFD software
Proven track record of conducting wind tunnel tests and interpreting data
Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Relevant degree in aerodynamics, aerospace engineering, or a related field
