Lead Aerodynamicist

Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Lead Aerodynamicist to join their team in Warton on a 12-month contract basis. This position involves working full time on-site with a standard 37-hour working week. The role falls inside IR35 and requires BPSS & Full SC - ITAR clearance.

• Leading aerodynamic analysis and design activities for defence and security projects
• Conducting wind tunnel testing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, and aerodynamic performance assessments
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate aerodynamic solutions into broader project objectives
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members
• Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Ensuring all aerodynamic work aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Participating in design reviews and providing expert insights on aerodynamic implications
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of aerodynamic methodologies and tools

• Extensive experience in aerodynamics within the Defence & Security sector
• Strong understanding and application of fluid dynamics principles and CFD software
• Proven track record of conducting wind tunnel tests and interpreting data
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Relevant degree in aerodynamics, aerospace engineering, or a related field
