The Role
As a Site Engineer, you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of tunnelling, underground structures, and associated civil engineering works, ensuring activities are completed safely, accurately, and in line with programme requirements.
Site Engineer Responsibilities
Setting out for tunnelling works, shafts, underground structures, reinforced concrete works, temporary works, and associated infrastructure.
Carrying out topographical, dimensional, and as-built surveys.
Establishing and maintaining accurate engineering controls and survey datums.
Producing and maintaining QA documentation, inspection records, and accurate site records.
Supervising subcontractors and ensuring works are completed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and approved methodologies.
Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager to achieve programme milestones.
Resolving technical queries and coordinating with design, commercial, and temporary works teams.
Monitoring tunnelling and associated civil engineering activities to ensure works are delivered to the required tolerances.
Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Monitoring engineering progress and maintaining accurate records of completed works.
Supporting the delivery of works within a busy urban environment, with particular attention to logistics, interfaces, and existing infrastructure.
Site Engineer Requirements
Previous experience as a Site Engineer on tunnelling, underground, utilities, rail, or heavy civil engineering projects.
Experience with tunnelling, shafts, underground structures, reinforced concrete, temporary works, or associated infrastructure.
Competent in using Leica and/or Trimble surveying equipment.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of setting out, engineering controls, surveying, and QA procedures.
Experience working to tight engineering tolerances and within complex project environments.
Valid CSCS Card (essential).
Full UK driving licence.
SMSTS or SSSTS certification is desirable.
