JOB TITLE: TRUST ADMINISTRATOR
LOCATION:
Manchester City Centre
HOURS OF WORK: 9 am - 5. 30 pm Monday to Friday

Main Purpose of the role:
- Reporting to the Tax and Estate Planning Partners
- Providing administrative support to the Tax and Estate Planning department
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Will report to two Partners
- Review existing records and maintain a record of Trusts where the client is appointed as a professional Trustee to help ensure that they are meeting their obligations as Trustees, keeping on top of key dates and offering excellent service to our Trust clients.
- Obtaining instructions from clients to offer ongoing Trust administration services as professional trustees.
- Acting on key dates by advising relevant fee-earners and contacting clients where necessary.
- Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date Trust Accounts, to include details of Trust assets and income & summaries of key points and events relating to the Trusts.
- Maintain copies of Trust documentation in an organised and easily accessible manner.
- Schedule annual review meetings with the Trustees, financial advisers and other relevant parties.
- Prepare file notes and resolutions of important Trustee decisions.
- Prepare reports to Trustees/clients to include annual Accounts and any recommendations or relevant changes to legislation.
- Ensuring that Trust assets are registered to the correct Trustees.
- Ensuring that other ongoing requirements are met, e.g. payment of regular policy premiums or insurance cover is in place
- Working closely with the Tax and Trusts Compliance Adviser to ensure that compliance and tax matters are dealt with as required, including:
- Registration and updates with the Trusts Registration Service (TRS)
- Registration and any filing of returns under the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) - including FATCA / CRS returns
- Applying for Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) numbers where relevant
- Submission and filing of Trust tax returns, such as self-assessment tax returns (SA900), 60-day CGT Returns and inheritance tax returns (IHT
100) and co-ordinating tax payments or liaising with accountants / relevant parties to ensure requirements are dealt with, including checking of returns to ensure they correspond with our records - Ensuring any additional requirements for specialist Trusts are dealt with, such as Vulnerable Person's Elections or any Charity Commission requirements
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Willing to work as part of a team and communicate with clients, intermediaries and other fee-earners and partners in the team
- Experience is not essential - it is desired
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to understand the significance of key dates, such as tax deadlines, and to act quickly to deal with the required actions
- Can take initiative and make suggestions on next steps based on information available
- Can produce legal documents and use Word, Excel and Teams to produce documents and maintain records
- Willingness to attend courses (if not already) on Trust Accounting and Taxation of Trusts (e.g. STEP, MBL) and opportunity to work towards STEP qualification if appropriate
