Head of Finance

This leading supplier of specialist equipment based in North Lancashire has enjoyed phenomenal growth and recently surpassed £10m turnover with ambitions to achieve £15m in the next 3-5years. In addition to a mature and long established customer base of established businesses they have also developed a significant proportion of online sales and attracted a growing market overseas. The future is looking extremely positive with numerous new enquiries coming in and potential expansion opportunities.

In order to support this further growth the MD is now looking to bring in a senior finance leader to head up the finance team and strengthen the business going forward. This key appointment will form part of the senior management team and has the potential to become a Finance Director position in the near future. My client is ideally looking an experienced Financial Controller / Head of Finance level candidate with a proven track record of career development and the potential to become a valuable member of the board.

This individual must have the following qualities:
Able to provide support and sage council to a driven MD Willingness to get involved in improving operations and commercial discussions ACCA / CIMA / ACA qualified accountant able to manage and develop a finance department Good IT / technology skills including MS Office (particularly Excel & financial modelling) and accounting software, ideally SAGE 200 Self-motivated with a drive to deliver top quality financial information that supports and guides decision making Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Able to credibly lead commercial discussions and build relationships with customers and suppliers. Represent the business to banks and external funders, accountants and professional advisers Ideally with experience from the retail / distribution / manufacturing KEY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for managing the finance function, including timely production of financial and management information, monthly management accounts and the annual audit. Develop budgets and robust forecasts in line with strategic plan Monitor cashflow and report on business performance Provide financial analysis to support projects and new business initiatives Drive efficiency across the business, work with key stakeholders to improve KPI’s and enhance decision making Review and develop financial control framework to support further business growth Manage the companies FX exposure with oversight of all import / export documentation Responsible for compliance, VAT, PAYE, HMRC tax, insurance, company secretarial matters This fantastic opportunity has real progression potential and can offer superb experience to an ambitious accountant looking for a Finance Director position in the future.
