Environmental Protection Officer Lancashire Initial 3-Month Contract (Likely Extension) 3 Days On-Site per Week

A Local Authority in Lancashire is seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to support the Environmental Protection team on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.

This role has arisen to provide additional support within the service and will involve managing a varied caseload of Environmental Protection service requests across a range of statutory nuisance and public health matters.

• Investigating statutory nuisance complaints including noise, odour, smoke and other environmental concerns
• Managing domestic, commercial and industrial noise complaints
• Responding to cases relating to waste, drainage and associated environmental health matters
• Investigating filthy and verminous premises complaints
• Undertaking site visits, evidence gathering and enforcement action where appropriate
• Providing professional advice to residents, businesses and internal departments
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports in accordance with service requirements

• Experience working within Environmental Protection in a Local Authority setting
• Strong working knowledge of statutory nuisance legislation
• Experience managing a varied Environmental Protection caseload
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively
• Strong communication and investigative skills

• Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension
• Minimum 3 days per week on-site.
• Hybrid working
