Salary - NJC Grade F SCP
19 - 24 £ 32,061 - £35,412 per annum

Blackpool Council is seeking a proactive and motivated Public Protection Officer (Area Intervention) to support a multi-skilled intervention programme aimed at tackling issues that matter most to local communities.

Working across a diverse range of enforcement disciplines, you will help reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and environmental concerns while providing reassurance and support to residents.

• Investigate and resolve community concerns including anti-social behaviour, waste issues, noise nuisance, poor housing conditions, planning breaches and environmental protection matters
• Use a range of enforcement powers, from carrying out inspections and investigations through to issuing notices and preparing prosecution files
• Work closely with internal teams, partner agencies, the police, landlords, businesses and residents to reduce crime and improve neighbourhoods
• Gather evidence, take witness statements and attend court or tribunals where required
• Support vulnerable individuals by identifying safeguarding concerns and signposting to appropriate services
• Deliver education, awareness and problem‑solving initiatives that help communities thrive

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
• A full driving licence
• Significant experience in a regulatory, enforcement, legal or protection‑based role
• Experience of working in partnership with multiple agencies and stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of Planning Enforcement, Environmental Health, ASB or related areas
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team. A degree in a relevant discipline would be advantageous

This post requires access to PSN (Public Services Network) services or networks and the successful post holder will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure check of unspent convictions through Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). This post is also subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance, evidence of any essential qualifications and proof of legal working in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

The successful applicant will be required to work outside of a 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday work pattern and will receive an additional payment on top of the quoted salary as a result.
