Environmental Practitioner (Environmental Protection) Hybrid Working – Minimum 3 Days per Week On-site Initial 3–6 Month Contract (Potential for Extension)

We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Lancashire with the recruitment of an experienced Environmental Protection Officer for an initial 3–6 month contract.

Working within a busy Environmental Protection team, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of environmental complaints, regulatory duties and enforcement activities, while providing professional Environmental Health advice to officers, businesses and members of the public.

The successful candidate will have experience dealing with:

  • Statutory nuisance investigations including noise, smoke, dust, odour and light pollution
  • Planning consultations and licensing applications
  • Part A and Part B Environmental Permitting inspections
  • Inspecting regulated installations including petrol filling stations, quarries, vehicle repair garages and paint spraying facilities
  • Preparing technical reports and enforcement documentation
  • Providing technical advice and supporting Environmental Protection teams

The position requires an officer who can confidently manage their own workload, undertake investigations independently and work effectively within a busy Local Authority Environmental Protection service.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within Environmental Protection or Environmental Health for a Local Authority
  • Strong experience investigating statutory nuisance and pollution complaints
  • Experience undertaking Environmental Permitting inspections
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and enforcement documentation
  • Experience responding to planning consultations and providing regulatory advice
  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently
