A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to provide support across a broad range of Environmental Protection and Public Health functions on an interim basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an officer who enjoys working across a varied caseload and is confident managing investigations, consultations and regulatory work with minimal supervision.

  • Varied and interesting workload across Environmental Protection and Public Health functions
Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake Planning and Licensing consultations
  • Carry out Environmental Permitting inspections
  • Investigate environmental complaints and provide appropriate resolutions
  • Manage Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) investigations
  • Investigate Statutory Nuisance complaints across both commercial and domestic settings
  • Respond to and investigate Public Health complaints
  • Undertake work relating to Private Water Supplies (desirable but not essential)
  • Maintain accurate records and provide professional advice in accordance with relevant legislation and council policies
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Environmental Health Officer
  • Previous Local Authority Environmental Protection experience
  • Experience handling Statutory Nuisance and complaint investigation casework
  • Knowledge of Environmental Permitting and Public Health functions
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience dealing with Private Water Supplies
  • Experience working across multiple Environmental Health disciplines
  • Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
