Sterile Services Assistant

The Sterile Services Department decontaminates and sterilises all clinical and medical devices for reprocessing. Working within the Trust’s Quality Management System and compliance framework, staff prepare and supply sterile equipment, ensuring adherence to the Consumer Protection Act, UK MDR 2002, Health and Safety at Work Act, EN ISO 13485 and relevant hospital policies. Various hours to be worked between 06:00am and 02:00am.

• Work to deadlines, assuring the quality and safe use of all instruments and equipment prior to sterilisation for all user groups.
• Ensure compliance with required standards, documented procedures and work instructions.
• Support the Vision and Values of the Trust.
• Reprocess reusable medical devices: dismantle, decontaminate, re‑assemble and examine before sterilisation.
• Stock control: ensure stock rotation, maintain minimum stock levels as specified on written lists, and top up raw materials daily into the clean room.
• Decontamination process (washroom): wear correct PPE at all times, follow entry and exit procedures, handle instrumentation safely, track and trace all equipment via the IT system (Scantrack), carry out in‑house cleaning tasks, report non‑conformances to a Supervisor, and handle all equipment with care.
