Consultant Nurse​/AHP - Stroke

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an exceptional Nurse/AHP Consultant to lead and innovate within our Stroke Services. Stroke care is evolving – and we need leaders who can push boundaries. In this role, you’ll:

• Deliver advanced clinical expertise, including assessment, diagnosis, and non-medical prescribing.
• Lead service development and set the standard for excellence in stroke care.
• Educate and inspire multidisciplinary teams, from medical students to senior clinicians.
• Drive research and evidence-based practice to keep us at the forefront of innovation.

Deliver advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for stroke patients, including non-medical prescribing. Act as an expert in stroke medicine and advanced practice, providing specialist advice for acutely unwell patients.

Lead efficient stroke care pathways with multidisciplinary teams. Develop policies, guidelines, and patient pathways where none exist. Monitor and evaluate services through audits, research, and performance indicators.

Design and deliver specialist training for all staff groups and medical students. Support clinical placements with higher education institutions and promote a learning culture for professional development.

Initiate and contribute to stroke research projects. Implement evidence-based practice and drive innovation to enhance academic status and research capability within the Trust.

Build strong partnerships with senior clinicians, allied health professionals, networks, and external stakeholders. Communicate complex, sensitive information effectively to patients, carers, and staff.

Ensure compliance with governance, safety, and quality standards. Participate in incident and complaint investigations, ensuring timely resolution. Uphold Trust values and maintain high professional standards.
