LTH is the specialised commissioned service for Lancashire & South Cumbria to provide Renal service, which includes the Fylde coast.

The roleis a new position tohelp meet our rising demand for General Nephrology, Glomerulonephritis andpost-kidneytransplantpatient careat our new Bob Coward Renal Centrelocatedat Blackpool.

This is asubstantivefull-time Consultant Nephrologistpostto address theneeds of the population of the Fylde coast.

They will conduct the majority oftheir DCCout of the newly commissioned renal centre, however throughadvanceagreement with the Clinical Director, there may be opportunities to negotiate a change in job plan to includeon-calls, procedure sand/orclinic activities at Royal Preston Hospital

General Nephrology,Glomerulonephritisand post-transplantclinics will beBob Coward Renal Centre,Blackpool(face-to-face and virtual). In-patient bedside reviews may berequiredfor

Blackpoolinpatientsandreviewing referralson Patient Pass. There is timeallocatedin the job plan to reflect this commitment.

The successful candidate willjoina highly successfulrecipient transplant work-up program which has resulted in a growing population of post-transplant patients requiring care closer to home.

This clinic will support the transplant clinic at Royal Preston Hospital which is set-up to repatriate recently transplanted patients from Manchester Royal Infirmary typically 6-8 weeks after transplantby freeing up capacity and following-up patients at their local centre.

The successful candidate willbe responsible for setting-up a new Glomerulonephritisclinicat theBob Coward Renal Centre to look afterpatients in the Fylde coast area.

At present, the serviceonlyexistat RPH and is oversubscribed.

You would join an excellent,friendly and compassionate large Renal service that covers 1.6 million people, looking after over 1400 dialysis and transplant patients across a large geographical area including 4 trusts and 6 satellite renal centres in addition to our main hub unit at Royal Preston Hospital. Our newly refurbished renal satellite centresoffer renal outpatient clinic facilities, on-site phlebotomy in addition to regular dialysis stations and self-care areas.

The Bob Coward Renal Centre is scheduled tobe operations from September 2026 andbeyond caring for dialysis patients,our existing and new clinic willoperateout of this newstate of the art facility.

We have an award winning successful live and deceased donor transplant programme and a well-established home dialysis team, offering Peritoneal Dialysis and Home Haemodialysis training at our facility in Chorley Hospital and now Kendal.

We have an expanding research portfolio recruiting to national and international trials and undertaking original research within the NIHR badged on-site Lancashire Clinical Research Facility.
