Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large acute trust with specialities including Tertiary services for Haematology, Cardiology and Adult CF. We are a progressive department of over 150 staff providing a comprehensive and well-developed pharmacy service.
We are looking for an individual to work within our Education and Training team to provide a comprehensive and high-quality clinical medicine and therapeutics education and training programme. Although the emphasis will be on medical education there will be scope to be involved with all clinical education in conjunction with the Lead pharmacist.
This key post within the department requires an enthusiastic pharmacist with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a sound clinical knowledge.
This post is attractive to the candidate with a keen interest in developing services and shaping future healthcare professionals whilst maintaining their clinical skills.
This role has 2 main components incorporating an extensive involvement in the medical education team and a strong clinical ward commitment.
The medical education role needs an individual with experience in developing and delivering training to healthcare professionals in a variety of formats and settings. They need to be motivated and enthusiastic about the benefits of clinical pharmacist involvement in medical education, understand the drivers but also the external pressures of this role. It will involve working with the lead pharmacist, Trust Clinical Education team, the wider regional groups and HEIs to develop and deliver the highest quality teaching and training to our medical staff both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The candidate will be able to design and develop teaching in areas such as safe prescribing, medicines optimisation, therapeutics and calculations. There is also an additional benefit of helping medical trainees to develop multidisciplinary working.
There are exciting opportunities to work with the lead pharmacist to develop the pharmacist role within interprofessional education in the Trust.
