Join Alcedo Care Blackpool as a Childrens Complex Children's Care Assistant supporting a young person in their family home and local community in Garstang.
This is a rewarding 2:1 support package for someone who enjoys building trusting relationships, encouraging meaningful activities and helping a young person remain safe while enjoying greater independence.
Excellent rates of pay £14.75- £15.75 per hour + Pension + Holiday Pay(equivalent to£16.53 to £17.65 per hour including holiday pay & pension)
20–40+ hours available | After-school, weekend and school-holiday shifts

What you’ll needTo apply, you must:
- Have at least three months’ care experience in a UK care setting or through regularly supporting a family member
- Have experience supporting children, young people or adults with behaviours that may present a risk to themselves or others
- Be calm, patient and confident when responding to impulsive or distressed behaviour
- Be able to follow risk assessments, behaviour-support plans and agreed safety procedures
- Be comfortable working as part of a consistent two-person care team
- Be willing to complete all required child-specific and behaviour-support training
- Be able to travel reliably to Garstang
Experience supporting someone with learning disabilities, limited danger awareness, absconding risks or complex behavioural needs would be highly beneficial.
About the young personYou will support a young person with learning disabilities and complex behavioural needs.
They enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly walking in quiet green spaces and exploring nature. They also enjoy sensory and practical activities, including handling natural materials and safely taking objects apart.
The right carers will take time to understand their individual communication, sensory needs, routines and interests. You will use these interests to build engagement, reduce distress and create positive, meaningful experiences.
About the roleSupport is provided on a 2:1 basis to maintain the safety and wellbeing of the young person, their family and the care team.
The young person can display impulsive behaviours and has limited awareness of everyday dangers. They may attempt to leave safe environments without recognising potential risks, so carers must remain attentive and follow the agreed absconding and safety-management plans.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing safe, attentive 2:1 support within the family home
- Supporting activities in the local community
- Accompanying the young person on walks and outdoor activities
- Planning structured, engaging and sensory-based activities
- Supporting emotional regulation and reducing distress
- Recognising potential triggers and early signs of escalation
- Responding safely to behaviours that may present a risk
- Following positive behaviour-support plans and risk assessments
- Managing absconding risks and maintaining appropriate supervision
- Supporting the development of confidence, life skills and independence
- Maintaining clear boundaries and consistent routines
- Providing respite and reassurance for the young person’s family
- Completing accurate care records and reporting any concerns
- Working closely with family members, colleagues and the wider clinical team
This role is about understanding the person behind the behaviour, building trust and providing consistent support that helps them feel safe and secure.
Training and supportYou will receive client-specific training and ongoing support from our in-house Registered Nurses and training specialists.
