Lancaster University is seeking a Digital Accessibility Skills Developer to join our Digital Adoption team within Information Systems Services (ISS) on a fixed-term basis until 9 June 2028, providing cover for a secondment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in advancing digital accessibility across the University. Working with colleagues across Academic and Professional Service departments, you will raise awareness of digital accessibility, promote inclusive practice and support staff to embed digital accessibility from the outset when creating digital content, learning materials and online experiences.

Through training, guidance, consultancy and day-to-day support, you will help colleagues adopt inclusive-by-design approaches and develop their confidence to create accessible resources, encouraging sustainable practice and positive change across the University, improving the learning experience for all learners.

As Digital Accessibility Skills Developer, you will design, develop and deliver engaging learning opportunities through a variety of formats, including workshops, webinars, online learning, videos, self-paced resources and one-to-one support. You will also create and maintain guidance, knowledge-base articles and self-help resources, ensuring staff and students have access to practical, up-to-date advice and support.

You will act as a trusted advisor on digital accessibility, supporting colleagues to develop inclusive teaching and assessment practices and make effective use of digital technologies. You will also provide support through our online Help Centre, contribute to accessibility testing of IT services, and help manage the University’s advanced captioning service.

We are looking for someone with experience of designing and delivering engaging digital skills training, alongside a strong understanding of digital accessibility standards and their practical application. You will possess excellent digital skills, be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, and be able to influence and support positive change. You'll be passionate about helping others develop accessible and inclusive ways of working.

Excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills are essential, together with a proactive approach to service improvement and continuous learning.

The role is primarily based on the Lancaster University Bailrigg campus, with flexible hybrid working options to support a positive work-life balance. We would expect a minimum of 2 days a week in the office, working flexibly to adapt to the needs of the role.
