We are a supportive and friendly practice team, managing two locations:
Springfenisco (which includes Springfield and Feniscowles surgeries) and Pringle Street Surgery. This position can either be filled by one full‑time Practice Manager overseeing all three sites or divided between two part‑time Practice Managers, with one covering Springfenisco and the other Pringle Street Surgery.

The role involves managing and coordinating all aspects of practice functionality, including motivating and leading staff, optimizing operational efficiency, and driving financial performance. The Practice Manager will ensure the practice achieves its long‑term strategic objectives within a safe and effective working environment. Through innovative approaches, you will lead the team in promoting Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I), Safety, Health, Environment & Fire (SHEF), Quality & Continuous Improvement (CI), Confidentiality, Collaborative Working, Service Delivery, and Learning & Development.

You will also ensure the practice remains fully compliant with CQC regulations.

Main duties of the job
  • Overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities.
  • Direct line management of staff.
  • Managing the recruitment process for the practice.
  • Establishing, reviewing and regularly updating Job Description s and Person Specifications.
  • Managing contracts for services (e.g., cleaning, gardening, window cleaning).
  • Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinating the reviewing and updating of all practice policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating and leading the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan (PDP).
  • Developing, implementing and embedding an efficient business resilience plan (BRP).
  • Managing the financial elements of the practice.
  • Ensuring the team reaches QOF targets (supported by the nursing and administrative leads).
  • Coordinating the practice diary, ensuring meetings are scheduled appropriately.
  • Liaising at external meetings.
  • Producing practice newsletters on a quarterly basis.
  • Managing the Patient Participation Group.
  • Managing all complaints effectively.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and dealing with disciplinary issues accordingly.
  • Managing the premises, including health and safety aspects such as risk assessments and mandatory training.
  • Managing the practice IT system, delegating staff to act as administrators.
  • Ensuring all staff have the appropriate level of training.
  • Maintaining the practice and NHS Choices websites.
About us

We are a 3‑partner group of practices, with a combined patient list of approx 6,800. We pride ourselves on quality clinical care and work well as a close‑knit team. We are a training practice, with FY2 and GPST doctors, alongside an admin team, receptionist, HCA, clinical pharmacist and practice nursing staff.

Job responsibilities
  • Operational Management – Oversee daily running of the practices to ensure a smooth, effective service delivery.
  • Staff Leadership and HR Management – Lead, supervise and support the team; manage HR tasks such as recruitment, training, appraisals and performance management.
  • Finance and Business Management – Oversee payroll, supplier contracts and procurement; identify business opportunities to help the business grow.
  • Patient Services and Experience – Promote high standards of patient care and customer service; handle complaints, feedback and significant events review.
  • Compliance, Governance and Risk Management – Maintain CQC compliance documentation and readiness for inspections.
  • Digital and IT Management – Oversee clinical systems (EMIS), lead on digital transformations, online services and telephony improvements.
  • PCN and Stakeholder Engagement – Act as a liaison for the PCN, ICB, NHS England and the wider network; support PCN and collaborative projects; attend meetings and represent the practice professionally.
