We are looking for a Head of Procurement to work on a permanent basis in Wigan/Hybrid.

The role is working for a Global Engineering Company.

Salary is c 65-75,000 per annum plus car/car allowance, 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, bonus (10-20%), excellent pension and other large company benefits.

Duties/Requirements for the Head of Procurement role

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Strategic Procurement to lead and develop their procurement function. This is a strategic leadership role focused on supplier management, cost optimisation, procurement performance, and supply chain resilience.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders to develop procurement strategies, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and lead a high-performing procurement team.

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Procurement:
  • Develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies.
  • Lead and develop the procurement team.
  • Manage supplier relationships and contract negotiations.
  • Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive procurement performance and continuous improvement.
  • Manage procurement budgets and KPI reporting.
  • Mitigate supply chain risks and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Collaborate with operational, technical and commercial teams across the business.
Candidate Requirements for the Head of Procurement role:
  • Proven experience leading a procurement function or team.
  • Strong supplier negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Experience delivering procurement strategies and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and analytical ability.
  • Experience with in a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or technical environment would be advantageous.
  • Degree qualified and/or professionally qualified (e.g. CIPS) preferred.
