Join Age UK as our Benefits Team Manager and lead a dedicated team helping older people across the UK access vital financial support and improve their quality of life.
As the Benefits Team Manager, you’ll be looking after the day-to-day management of the Benefits team, ensuring they are best placed to provide a high-quality service to the older people we support across the UK.
Operating alongside the National Advice Line, the National Benefits Service supports older people through a dedicated team of Team Leaders and Benefits Advisers, who provide benefits advice, checks to identify benefit entitlements and form filling support for clients. Last year alone the service identified over £35m in unclaimed benefits for older people.
You’ll work closely with the Advice Line’s National Manager to ensure the service complements the Advice Line, and the Age UK network, by providing a focal point for benefits related enquiries.
You will also focus on maximising the impact of the service, so it meets the needs of clients both now and in the future, by developing and implementing changes with the aim to grow, evolve and improve the service, ensuring we are working in an effective and efficient way that meets the needs of older people.
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and develop a nationally recognised service that changes lives every day. If you're an experienced people manager with a passion for improving services and delivering positive outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.
This role offers hybrid working between home and our offices in either Blackpool in Lancashire or Ashburton in Devon (a robust home broadband connection is essential). This means you would be expected to attend office a minimum of once every 3 months, although this can be more if you prefer. You may be asked to attend office more regularly than these minimum requirements.
You will need to live within an easily commutable distance of the office either by car or public transport, we suggest up to 1hr 30mins commute.
This role is a 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
