An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Contracts Manager to come and join a busy client in the Lancashire area.

The purpose of this job is to ensure that Travel Care operations are provided efficiently and safely and in line with the standards determined by the Head of Travel Care.

The main duties of the Transport Contracts Manager are:
  • Oversee the day-to-day supervision of senior drivers, drivers, driver attendants and passenger assistants.
  • Manage recruitment, induction, staff allocation and absence cover.
  • Conduct performance and development appraisals and coordinate staff training.
  • Monitor attendance, absence and performance, including handling low-level disciplinary matters.
  • Check and maintain staff time and pay records.
  • Allocate passengers to appropriate transport runs.
  • Maintain and update computerised and manual records.
  • Work with the Line Manager to maximise staff productivity and vehicle utilisation.
  • Cover the Line Manager's operational duties during periods of temporary absence.
  • Coordinate local vehicle deployment, including arranging maintenance and repairs with Fleet Services.
  • Liaise with customers, passengers and carers to ensure services meet their needs and expectations.
  • Monitor compliance with Travel Care standards through regular vehicle, premises and staff activity audits.
  • Attend relevant training courses as required.
  • Undertake driving duties as a last resort when operationally necessary.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in passenger transport in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Experience in resource scheduling and staff supervision.
  • Experience working with disability-related services.
  • Experience maintaining manual and computerised records.
  • 3 GCSEs (A-C), including Maths and English, or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills, including patience, empathy and consideration.
  • Good IT skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and other relevant systems.
  • Strong customer service/customer care skills.
  • Ability to supervise, organise and coordinate a team.
  • Awareness of the needs of people with frailty, disabilities and sensory impairments.
