Summary and Job Description
Quality Inspector III are experienced inspectors who perform complex manual inspection tasks and train other inspectors in proper use of tools and print reading/Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). They demonstrate proficiency in advanced tools such as optical comparators and profilometers. They work with minimal supervision and may supervise or guide other inspectors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review and verify supplier‑provided paperwork for correctness and completeness.
- Perform visual inspection of parts for completeness, damage, and foreign objects.
- Conduct dimensional verification of parts using hand tools (calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, thread gauges) and advanced tools (optical comparators, profilometers).
- Complete inspection reports and required paperwork.
- Verify tool calibration before use.
- Model correct use of procedures, rules, policies, and cleanliness for the plant.
- Provide guidance and clarification to less‑experienced inspectors.
May be asked to provide guidance and direction to other inspectors.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED (minimum education).
- Three or more years of prior inspection experience.
- Basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Thorough understanding of print reading and GD&T.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and work ethic.
- Ability to train and guide less‑experienced inspectors.
- Ability to read, understand, and draft technical instructions.
- Ability to make decisions based on incomplete data.
Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
Software and Analytical SkillsProficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Word, Outlook, Teams, and general Office Suite. Ability to analyze and interpret defect conditions.
Physical DemandsMust be able to move items up to 50 lbs. Annual eye examination required.
Work EnvironmentProduction floor with climate‑controlled and less‑controlled areas. Requires extended periods of sitting or standing.
